This free facility lets you input the basics of your design idea — its shape, its dimensions and the decking timber you prefer — and automatically generates the list of materials, the detailed drawings and the total price of your decking or pergola kit. Softwoods will even calculate wind zones and other engineering requirements based on the data you submit.
Council Approval

To ensure that your design and our engineering comply with Australian building standards, the decking design and plans need approval from the local Council. Over the last thirty-plus years, Softwoods have built solid relationships and mastered the process of chasing Council and securing approval. This is a tedious and trying process that could leave you frustrated if you attempt to handle it yourself.

We carry an extensive range of treated softwood and hardwood timber as well as ample stock of related accessories such as sleepers, pickets, battens, palings, handrails, cladding and screens.

All our timber comes from legally-harvested sources; we are serious about sustainable practices and do not compromise about this. We require our suppliers to provide us with evidence or certification of compliance with Australian Forestry Standards and the Australian Illegal Logging Prohibition Act. At the same time, we carry out our own due diligence.

We make decking panels according to your decking design specs and include every part or accessory you need for the build.
Building the Deck

The final leg of this journey is the build. You can elect to DIY this part, or we can arrange for one of our professional carpenters to build the deck for you. Either way, you will have transformed your decking design to a fully functional outdoor extension that will give you endless hours of pleasure and add value to your property.
